PLACES TO VISIT

Park View Cottage is a lovely cottage in Derbyshire - being the perfect base if you wish to enjoy a holiday in the Peak District.  There's plenty to see and do so.  Details of places to visit are below.  There is also information in the cottage if you need any ideas of how to spend your time.

Covid-19 - Please note that opening times will be restricted and most places will need to be booked in advance.  

Glossop Town centre is a great place to visit for those who enjoy walking.  A lovely town with local shops, a variety of restaurants and coffee shops.

Buxton in Derbyshire is home to the beautifully restored

Opera House, designed and built by Frank Matcham - well worth a visit, either to admire the architecture or see a show.   Covid-19 - although the Opera House is currently closed, the exterior of the building is stunning and the adjoining Pavilion Gardens is worth a visit.

Poole's Cavern, Devonshire Dome and Buxton Spa are other reasons to visit. Covid-19 - re-opened

LYME PARK - Film location of the BBC's 'Pride and Prejudice'.  A great day out for children - they can let off steam in the children's playground or dress up in Edwardian clothing. 

 

See the fallow deer and take in the wonderful scenery.  Hot and cold snacks available in the coffee shop. 

 

Tour Castleton Visitor Centre.  Discover the delights of Castleton and the Hope Valley through interactive displays.  Take a trip down one of Castleton's four show caves, Treak Cliff, Peak, Blue John or Speedwell. 

Don't miss the Christmas Lights switch on and discover Blue John gemstone - unique to Castleton.
